Full Flower Supermoon in Scorpio

Spring is in the air, we’re all feeling the Corona cabin fever, and tonight we welcome the Full Flower Supermoon in Scorpio. Quite a mouthful, isn’t it? Let’s breakdown what all of that means.

Supermoon in Scorpio by Callie Little

A “supermoon” is basically a full or new moon that is as close as possible to the earth. It’s a term that was coined in 1979 by the astrologer Richard Noelle. When the moon is this close to the earth, it appears about 30% larger.

Full moons are always an intense time and tend to fuel us in interesting ways. If you choose to place this energy in to positive thinking and optimism, positivity will rise up. Remember where your intentions lie.

We may feel heightened desire, energy, or mania when the moon shows us its full face. Or perhaps we’ll feel drained, exhausted, depressive… The moon is all about those feelings, so whatever you’ve been working with these past few weeks will come to a head in this time. And you can and will make this a time of transformation into the positive.

What makes a supermoon so much more super than a regular moon? Well, prepare yourself: supermoons are exactly what they claim to be in their name. Super. Next level.

The “flower” moon was named by the indigenous people of the Algonquin tribes in the northeastern region of the country. Some other names for this moon include the milk moon and the corn planting moon. The name is in recognition of the beautiful Spring season we find ourselves in, even if it’s looking out from behind our windows.

This month’s full moon is in Scorpio, a fixed water sign. Basically, water signs (Scorpio, Cancer, and Pisces) are known to be the ultimate emotive babes of the zodiac, and Scorpio is the sexiest, most intense of them all. This full supermoon is basically made for relational intensity.

We are currently in Taurus season, a sign all about living well, creature comforts, and earthly delights. They’re an earth sign, which means they’re good at working hard for what they want. This, combined with all the other factors above, means that we may notice some particularly strong emotions coming around the home and everything we associate with it: serious partnerships, roommates, nesting, moving or relocating, family, perhaps even careers if they have a significant impact on your concept of “home.” You may be really into baking right now (Taurus is a notorious snacker), or you may feel totally overwhelmed with what’s going on in the world. Either way, I’m willing to bet your energy is feeling pretty enhanced in either direction at this moment in time.

Manifestation during the Scorpio Full Moon

Full moons are the phase of manifestation and attraction the universe brings us each month. To help yourself harness the power of this moment, light a candle and sit down with a journal and a variety of writing utensils. List out all the things that have been on your mind lately—nothing is too big or too small. Write these things in one color and then choose a second color to underline the areas you wish to empower this month. Using that same second color, write out three ways you can support those changes in the next two weeks. When you’re finished writing out your mini-goals, speak your gratitude aloud— even if you have to whisper since creating any sound at all affects the universe with its vibration— and blow the candle out. Channel Scorpio and enhance the potency or the practice by sealing this ritual with a luxurious bath or some other sensual + embodied delight.

Manifestation isn’t just about setting the intention and performing rituals, though; it’s about pairing those things with action. This practice is all about actionable steps to take toward our goals. When we ask for what we want, the universe (God, Spirit or whatever you prefer to call it) listens— but it only knows we’re serious and ready for our desired outcome when we begin the work to make those things happen for ourselves.

The moon will begin to appear full tonight, May 5, and peak at 6:45am on May 7. Bask in the glow, feel your feelings, and know that good things are coming for those who A. wait… to go outside, and B. put in the work. For now, we must remain inside, working diligently toward individual and collective healing, taking good care, and pursuing our wildest dreams from a safe distance.

Stay safe, stay soft, and may you be healthy.
