This piece was informed by my love of Joni Mitchell. Did you know she has been a painter her whole life alongside being a prolific musician? She is the reason why I taught myself guitar at 15 and started writing music. Her pursuit of multiple forms of art gave me permission at a young age to do the same. So in honor of Joni, the colors in this piece are inspired by the colors in her album cover for "For the Roses." Ps, this piece originated as a piece of cheesy corporate art that said "Grateful hearts gather here." My grateful heart gathers at the altar of Joni Mitchell.
